EB Contracts is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Project Lead for a major Data Centre construction project in Düsseldorf, Germany. This is a senior site-based role responsible for managing customer relationships, coordinating project delivery, and supporting the successful delivery of the construction, fit-out, commissioning, and handover phases of a mission-critical Data Centre project. The successful candidate will be supported by a site-based team and will play a key role in managing project stakeholders, contractors, consultants, programme delivery, commercial matters, handover planning, and client reporting. Role Overview Position: Senior Project Manager / Project Lead Sector: Data Centres Location: Düsseldorf, Germany Role Type: Permanent / Site-Based Package: Circa €250,000 per annum Benefits: All found package Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Germany Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Managing and coordinating delivery of a major Data Centre construction project. Acting as a senior client-facing Project Manager / Project Lead. Supporting the project through construction, fit-out, commissioning, and handover phases. Positively engaging with customers and maintaining strong project relationships. Coordinating consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and wider project stakeholders. Advising on specialist services required in connection with the project. Reviewing contract scope, team appointments, and identifying any additional works required. Advising on methods of progressing construction works. Monitoring site progress, safety, quality, programme, and budget compliance. Undertaking regular site walks to review safety, quality, and progress. Preparing and maintaining handover plans, approval procedures, variation procedures, and reporting structures. Coordinating substantial completion, practical completion, manuals, handover documentation, and close-out records. Monitoring and reporting on commissioning plan development. Reviewing design documentation and identifying discrepancies, inconsistencies, or errors. Monitoring compliance with project requirements. Promptly identifying potential delays, cost issues, risks, and project constraints. Overseeing the development of contractor critical path schedules. Supporting the review and resolution of change order applications. Ensuring contractual notices and project communications are administered correctly. Preparing and presenting project reports and supporting site meetings. Mentoring and coaching project team members where required. Key Requirements The ideal candidate will have: 10+ years’ experience as a Consultant Project Manager, Project Lead, or Owner’s Representative. Experience managing large-scale construction projects, ideally within mission-critical or Data Centre environments. Detailed knowledge of Data Centre handover and commissioning processes. Clear understanding of legislation impacting building contracts and construction delivery. Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong problem-solving, negotiation, financial, and numeracy skills. A methodical and structured approach to work. Strong ICT skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work effectively as part of a site-based project team. Professional level of English and German. Eligibility to work in Germany. Qualifications University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or similar. Additional qualification in Project Management is desirable.
